Symptoms

When the game loses focus it show this message and crashes the game image Here's CRASHLOG.TXT

Everything else works fine

Reproduction

Vladimir-A commented 4 years ago

Refresh Proton prefix can help.

Ryhon0 commented 4 years ago

I've removed the prefix and ran the game again and I keep getting this error when alt-tabbing

buraksrc commented 4 years ago

Might be related to GNOME shell. I can safely Alt+Tab while in KDE Plasma. Your GPU driver is kinda old, you may try to update it also.

jalabb commented 4 years ago

No issue at all with XFCE4 (xubuntu 18.04.4), alt+tab works fine.

Gman0064 commented 4 years ago

Manjaro 19.0.2 with GNOME (5.5.8-1-MANJARO) GTX 1650 with proprietary 440.64 driver Proton 5.04

The game will "launch" with the Bethesda intro animation and stay stuck on a black screen. No other errors/popups present themselves and have to alt-tab out of the game to kill it.

iWeaker commented 4 years ago

For me is working very well with GTX1050 2GB and 440.66.03 Vulkan Drivers

Arch Linux + XFCE

liberodark commented 4 years ago

for me performance is very bad

Compatibility Report

System Information

VULKAN LOG: steam-1148590v.log

D3D LOG: steam-1148590d3d.log

OGL LOG: steam-1148590.log

Symptoms

Game runs, but stutters and lags when moving the mouse. I can confirm its completely related to the mouse, as using the arrow keys to turn, DOOM 64 does not stutter and freeze.

This is exactly what happens in Blood: Fresh Supply, they both use the KEX Engine. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2689#issuecomment-565897776

Compatibility Report

System Information

I confirm:

steam-1148590.log

Symptoms

Mice with high polling rates cause heavy fps drops when moving camera with mouse. This affects other "Kex engine" games as well such as BLOOD: FRESH SUPPLY (which I cannot file a report on due to me owning the gog version of that game and using third party tools to use proton with it)

Reproduction

Start a new game and use a high polling rate mouse to move camera

adrianlshaw commented 4 years ago

Similarly to the mouse issue, FPS also tanks if you use a gamepad like the Xbox one.

dandishonored commented 3 years ago

I tried both games and to make mouse working, I must be looking around for a while and making big circles on my mouse pad. I'm also changing speed so it catches up here and there. I found this while I was trying to find some working settings in game console and was testing those. It suddenly started working flawlessly. It works for Doom 64 and Blood: Fresh Supply as well. From that point, I can play as long as I wish. Only what differs is that mouse will freeze in center of the screen in menu so I must navigate menu using keyboard.

I can't explain that behavior. I tried both oldest and default Proton on Steam and both worked the same way.

Wine-4.0 I have installed from distro is working out of the box without issue, but I'm not getting Achievements. I will use Proton with a bit of mouse training at start of game session.

I see the mouse problem. For me it practically freezes when you move the mouse.
