A Way Out (1222700) #4021

Compatibility Report

System Information

I confirm:

Log: steam-1222700.log

Symptoms

The game crashes at a certain point/scene. I couldn't make the game run with the AMDGPU-PRO drivers, so I can't be sure if this is only a RADV issue.

UPDATE: Couldn't get it to run with AMDVLK too. I can only start the game with RADV, the game won't even launch with other drivers.

Reproduction

  1. Get to the Prison Scape scene;
  2. After Leo pull Vincent up the cable, there is a cutscene;
  3. Both jump through a roof glass, upon getting up the game hangs and green artifacts appear on the screen after a few seconds.

Thanks for the report. On my side, I can't even start it. Game is marked "Running", button is blue with the "Stop" text, but nothing show up.

EDIT: In case anyone have same problem as me, you need to install the 32bits vulkan loader with sudo apt install mesa-vulkan-drivers:i386. After this, Origin installation UI will show up properly during OriginSetup step and game will start.

As an update to my original bug report:

A Way Out is working now. I was able to play from beginning to end with an AMD GPU using ACO (as it is now the default). It looks like before becoming the default I actually failed to try it in the game by putting the wrong launch options in the game properties, by putting RADV_PERFTEST=aco after %command% instead of before, so it was an error on my part.

Crashes during start-up for me. Have tried Proton 5.13-6, 6.3-2, 6.5-2 and Proton Experimental and all crash for me. It produces this error message:

In each play session, game runs well on max graphic settings for a while, but then, usually when the scene changes to a new area, the FPS suddenly drops to about 15fps and remains at that framerate or lower until I turn the shadows down to low, then it goes back to 60+ fps. I can then instantly switch back to high shadows and it will stay at 60 fps.

Does anybody know how to fix this bug with the shadows?

Two controller support on "A way out" game

Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/9027. @andirsun posted on 2022-12-22T03:46:01:

Your system information

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen. Please link any large code pastes as a Github Gist

Hi, the game is running great on my linux machine (pop_os) but the problem is with the controllers. I want to play cooperative (split screen) and I have two controllers connected to my pc (play station dualsense and Xbox one controller). When I start the game with two controllers connected and I want to choose the characters, only one controller is detected and the other is not recognized. I have been trying some tweaks: disable steam input, active support for playstation and xbox controllers on big-picture etc. I really want to know if I can plan with two controllers.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

Hi,

Had a lot of issues with this game, but not with the controllers.

Best of luck.
