Compatibility Report

System Information

I confirm:

steam-1087500.log

Symptoms

the game starts but input (knuckles) isn't recognized (the in game hands can be seen and can be moved, but buttonmapping is broken). you also can't choose a different controller mapping from the steamvr gui.

this is exactly the same problem like in my other bug report for "A Fisherman's Tale" https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3843 and similar to the problem in my other report for "The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners" https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3483 I refunded the game this time, as I don't have hope that this is going to be fixed soon. And even if it does goes a fix, I can test it with the other broken games first.

It would be nice if anyone could provide a workaround to create or copy some binding from other game until this one is resolved.

Patola commented 3 years ago

One year later, I bought the game, and this problem is still there. There was a similar problem on A Fisherman's Tale (bug #3843 ) but it was ameliorated by users. This does not seem to be a big issue, just provide a mapping! Why there is no solution and no explanation of what's going on?

Patola commented 3 years ago

And the old doubts are still there, why the "create new binding" button does not work? Why the "choose another" seemingly does not work, or takes such a long time it times out?

Here, take a steam-1087500.log with Proton 6.3-5, see if help anything. steam-1087500.log

At start the steam overlay shows this message: "failed to load input bindings for openxr test instance. please select another binding option".

farmboy0 commented 2 years ago

The reason why SteamVR cant find the bindings is because at least for me the steamvr_actions.json file contains absolute windows paths which native SteamVR cant resolve. Even if you edit the file it gets recreated when the game is started. Making the file read-only will make the changes stick though, unfortunately input still didnt work for me.
