Stutter/Freezing on some Linux Distribution Overlays #4072

This issue so far has only been present since my move from Pop OS, but games such as Halo Master Chief Collection and Marble it up for example are experiencing stutters or at times game freezes when an os-specific overlay occurs (In the instance of this issue, the volume buttons bring up the volume overlay, which while ubuntu's runs fine, Pop OS' causes a very brief stutter.

sam here on Pop_OS! 20.04. Changing the volume or interacting with the steam overlay will cause games utilizing proton to either lag or crash.
