Symptoms

Game installs, loads, goes though all the intro videos, then gets to the splash / title screen as asks for a "left mouse button" to continue. After clicking left mouse button nothing happens.

Reproduction

Download and install game using any of the proton versions listed above. Attempt to play the game.

As of 2/15/24, this game starts and runs well on ver. 8-32 and experimental.

The problem that appears to be Proton-specific is the inability to progress past the experience-gained screen at the end of a career tour. This doesn't prevent the accumulation of experience or currency, which still seem to work and save, but this prevents the player from progressing in the career mode. According to this post, this may have been a bug introduced after Proton 7 as downgrading seems to help.

Hello @clooster, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options, reproduce the regression, and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.) Also, please copy your system information from Steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and the contents of Steam Runtime Diagnostics from Steam (Steam -> Help -> Steam Runtime Diagnostics) and put them in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report.

Game progresses with Proton 7 but does not on 8 and experimental.

@clooster I've been looking into this, but it seems that the more I play, the harder it becomes to reproduce the issue, taking several rounds for it to manifest and making it hard to rule out what versions are not affected. I'd like to know how many rounds you've completed with proton 7 if possible, if you go to settings → golfer → statistic, you can check how many rounds you've played in total.
