Symptoms

The game starts and then shows a black window on the desktop; in the VR headset the left eye is white, the right one is black. With versions below 6.3.6 it either doesn't present anything in the headset or straight up crashes on launch.

Hello @Zamundaaa, it might be interesting to test if using a KDE/X session instead of a KDE/Wayland session has an effect.

I tried to reproduce the issue but the game just works for me (Valve Index, stock kernel 5.13.16, AMD RX580, latest Experimental, Xorg Gnome session), VR and game mechanics seems functional and the rendering on desktop looks correct.

The black window on desktop possibly indicates some general d3d11 rendering issue, not necessarily VR specific. I'd also try with PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 just in case.

Did you use the free "Waltz of the Wizard" or the paid-for "Walz of the Wizard: Natural Magic"? The former works for me, too, but is not what this issue is about

I only tried the Walz of the Wizard: Natural Magic, paid one (Steam app id matches the one specified in the issue).
