Symptoms

Game crashes when using custom soundtrack by play in it

Reproduction

Trying to change the soundtrack to custom music soundtrack the game immediately crashes

It seems that the game doesn't crash anymore, but now it doesn't load the custom music tracks. They are detected by the game, they are listed, but they doesn't play. Just silence. If you assign a track to any robot/ship unit, it goes to the default music and not the custom one. Tried with Proton 7.02, Experimental and Proton-GE 7.17 to no avail.

Still crashed here.

Proton-7.0-3, Proton experimental, GE-Pronton7-21 all failed, with wine crash trace.

Weirdly, a lot of guys in protondb reports it runs fine, so I guess it may be something related to my system?

But I tested with both Arch on my desktop (5900X + 6700XT) and my laptop (ASUS G14, 5900HS + RTX3060), all the same crash.

Fixed the custom soundtrack issue! Needed to switch to Proton Experimental and reencode the music tracks with Audacity to average 192 kbps. After that, custom music worked flawlessly. Don't know why this music tracks worked while playing on Windows, and not on Linux, though.
