Seems like this game is not working properly for everyone according to #518
@arzardk yes I saw that, but I'm not able to contribute to that issue. I hope that can be solved pretty easy because the game worked flawless for me always, I mean in Wine. In fresh versions of Wine something is broken and most textures would be covered by large black texture, but the game starts fine and menu works.
Works perfectly for me, too. I suspect that bug report is because of a broken system.

@swick thnx with Proton 3.7.4.beta it launch game now!
No known problems on 3.7-4 beta!
Any changes to the Settings that "require restart" crash the game on apply (for example VSync, Anti Aliasing etc.). Game saves that change. Can someone reproduce this issue?
Otherwise game runs great.

@jgacas It did that to me, but I thought it was intentional (I've never played it under Windows.) I thoguht it was just exiting so that we'd restart. That's the only issue I've seen thus far.

@pantas123 could you please provide a log file by running the game as PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
as explained here
I solved the "problem", deinstalling and disabling Steam Cloud Sync. and reinstalling. Seems that the conf. file in the cloud, wasn't compatible anymore with my hardware. So it runs well.
i retested the game on the current proton and it works just as fine as it did on proton 7.3
My Steam info https://gist.github.com/Zero86Sk/d629f657c1ae861c36657cdf238a7765
It has a Native Linux port but for some reason thats not on Steam.
The port was funded by HB, so it's an HB exclusive. Maybe Valve could work with the publishers and HB to get it as well.

@rstevenson1976 Proton 3.7-8 loads a save game much faster for me than any other version I suppose the game can be whitelisted with this one

Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5512. @Githob2021 posted on 2022-01-21T22:58:36:
There is no compatibility report for this game, but a "whitelist" does exist from 2018/2019 that also mentions the game load fine in 3.7-8. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/548#issuecomment-524554484
Abnormally long load times throughout the game. 1) Launching the game 2) Loading characters 3) Moving in and out of town/dungeons
1) Launch the game, if it ever loads (sometimes takes up to 2-3 minutes or it loads "forever" aka becomes a zombie process and you need to kill it) 2) Load a character, will have very long load times. Anywhere between 15 seconds to 1 minute 3) Going in and out of towns, dungeons have load times anywhere between 15 seconds to 1 minute
Hello @Githob2021, if possible, please test various versions of Proton and see if you can figure out the newest major version that behaves as expected, and which is the oldest Proton release with degraded load times. With the oldest affected Proton version, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
to the game's launch options, reproduce the regression, and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.)
Runs flawless Arch (4.18) Nvidia 396.51
