Running Proton Experimental, I don't have any black screen issues, both on X.org and Wayland (alt-tab and pressing alt both working. However, instead if a choppy video playback I see the test pattern of mediaconverter (so mayby it'll work once the videos are transcoded ?) It also crashed once when trying to play the opening video but can't reproduce consistently. When running with Proton 7.0-1, I confirm everything mentioned above.
Interesting, with Proton experimental works fine for me. But I also see and hear the opening video without problems. And I haven't installed wmp or other things like that separately.

Very interesting. On my side video playback works with proton-ge without any tweaks but don't work on Proton Experimental. Just to confirm did you try on a fresh prefix ?

I haven't done other than run it with Proton 7.0 before switching to experimental.
Does the experimental version pass decoding to GPU now? (which might have it's own implementation in firmware?) Or does it use openh264? As far as I know, Proton does not use system-installations of ffmpeg or gstreamer but only what is included with it?
The flowchart is not rendered properly. The selected path and the "bubbles" aren't positioned properly. The arrows at the end of the lines between bubbles are missing, and the misalignment increases the further you scroll.
Possible Regression: Proton 8.0 causes the game to crash when opening flowchart. Not crashing in Proton 7.0. Also affects: Riddle Joker (1277930) steam-1829980.log
I'm suffering from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/9267 , so I can only give inxi -GSC -xx

Symptoms
A) To run the game, you need to have PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 and select "Do not use Direct 3D drawing for motion display" from "advanced" menu within the game (press Alt to get it to appear). This is same as #5567 and common with a few other games as well.
B) When game enters opening video (end of first/prologue chapter) video and sound playback is choppy. This case has following in the Proton log: 61764.252:0118:027c:err:evr:video_mixer_transform_SetOutputType picked dxva device {5a54a0c9-c7ec-4bd9-8ede-f3c75dc4393b} 61764.264:0118:027c:fixme:mfplat:audio_renderer_get_service_GetService Unsupported service {866fa297-b802-4bf8-9dc9-5e3b6a9f53c9}, interface {0a9ccdbc-d797-4563-9667-94ec5d79292d}. 61764.281:0118:027c:fixme:mfplat:color_converter_ProcessMessage Unhandled message type 10000003.
