Heroes of Might & Magic III: HD Edition (297000) #631

Open Playinthegames opened 6 years ago

Playinthegames commented 6 years ago

This game runs perfectly on my machine. No complaints.

Specs: https://gist.github.com/Playinthegames/b72b70a72bd909f88c01bc15fee600d4

Currently using nvidia 390.77, but also tested with 384, which worked just as well.

I have also finished a few maps without any problems. I have one question though: Does the space key works for you, like when you are wit a hero on a building and you want to visit it again and you press space. For me it doesn't work

Edit: I have tried also on Windows and it looks like that feature is not implemented in this version of Heroes. So I guess everything works.

Heroes® of Might & Magic® III - HD Edition (297000) No sound

Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2146. @Takios posted on 2018-12-26T22:02:31:

Compatibility Report

System Information

I confirm:

Symptoms

There is no sound at all when playing the game. The game does not show up in pavucontrol or other sound managing programs at all. Ingame sound is turned up to full. Starting Steam and the game via command line, the following line is probably indicative of the problem:

"Warning: Couldn't initialize SDL Audio: Audio target 'pulse' not available"

My system does use Pulseaudio. Other applications and SDL games can output sound without issue. Tried to `export

SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa` beforehand, but I get the same error message, but with alsa instead of pulse.

Reproduction

Start the game.

Takios commented 5 years ago

@kisak-valve Sound works now with Proton 4.2-1

Crashes after resolution chooser with proton 5 (which seems to be using D9VK, using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 fixes this.) 5370.691:0037:0038:fixme:vulkan:X11DRV_vkCreateWin32SurfaceKHR Application requires child window rendering, which is not implemented yet! err: Failed to create surface steam-297000.log

It works for me with Proton 4.11-13. However, with Proton 5.0-10 or Proton 5.13-2, it fails with the following messages:

Starting Heroes of Might & Magic III (Linux based version)...

@Alexander-Wilms Could you give some more details? When exactly does this crash happen? Could you upload a full log of the crash (You can get a log by adding PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the launch options. The log will show up in your ~ folder by default.). Could you also please copy your system information from Steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report?

alasky17 commented 1 year ago

@Alexander-Wilms Thank you for the info! The key was to turn off fullscreen :) We will investigate this - thank you for reporting the diff between Proton stable and experimental.

kisak-valve commented 1 year ago

Hello @Alexander-Wilms, please retest with Proton Experimental 2023-01-23.
