I have just experienced a game hanging after dying
I'm on nvidia and I can't even get past the main menu, the game freezes up, music cuts off, then a few seconds later the ambient sound on the subway cuts off, tried multiple proton versions incl. experimental, and tried with and without these launch options set PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11
GPU: 6600M
@GalacticalEdge I can reproduce your issue with Mesa 22.1.7 but with Mesa-git the issue goes away.
Mesa-git has another graphical issue not present in Mesa 22.1.7
Inner city looks fine

PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11
You need to add "VKD3D_CONFIG=force_initial_transition"
UPDATE: I updated my Mesa drivers to Mesa 22.2.3 and it fixed the artifacts.
Seems like it's a Mesa driver issue then
If you're using steam flatpak, the org.freedesktop.gl.mesa-git (branch 22.08) on the flathub beta repo will run it without artifacts. When I tried the devel build (branch 23.08beta) nothing would start in steam, seemed like a broken compile of the vulkan driver.
Just an FYI
I'm having an issue where the game loses sound and stops responding to input if I change the time of the day in-game.
Can anyone replicate the issue?
UPDATE: It's fixed with GE
I've gone on a 4-day trip, when I came back this game wasn't working anymore (crashing either in the “Sony presents” or during the videos after it). It's the same setup that was working before (VKD3D_CONFIG=force_initial_transition
with no RADV_PERFTEST
). Same mesa version (22.2.3)—but also tried with latest git. Tried cleaning the compat folder. Tried default and bleeding-edge version of Proton Experimental, tried the Proton Next (7.0.5), and default 7.0.4. Tried validating files (of course).
Worth mentioning that the game updated to Novemeber 24 (v1.1122.0.0) the moment I powered on Steam-but I didn't see anyone else on Linux saying this broke the game for them.
UPDATE: There is a previous_version
branch in the game's betas, that fixed it for me.
UPDATE2: No issue after updating to December 1st (v1.1130.0.0).
Same issue on my steam deck? How do you solve?
Miles Morales seems to crash on startup with the latest Proton Experimental update. Also I am on the Steam Linux Beta, not sure if that matters. steam-1817190.log
I've got a similar crash at start on the Deck, but only when plugged into the Dock; it boots up and is playable just fine on the Deck only.
It's the same as can be read about here, https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/113su56/miles_morales_spiderman_not_loading_anymore_on/
Wow, I have read other reports here, so my complain is basically a baby version of them compared to others.
When I set the following parameters:
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=1 gamemoderun mangohud %command% -nolauncher
or I set this like this:
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr gamemoderun %command% -nolauncher
I still get the following warning:
but without those parameters I get this:
I made a video about the 2 things here and performance for Proton 8.0.2

Issue: Game crashes on launch, not even launcher is seen. Other games [skyrim; halo 1,2,3; Spiderman - REMASTERED] work perfectly with same version of proton and same launch options [nvrun %command%]
nvrun - shell script wrapper to launch games - https://gist.github.com/bucketsize/b8bc86ce540dd86e3f77966e5c4db60f#file-nvrun
On another AMD [Ryzen 2200g, AMDGPU Rx6400] PC running linux 6.6.0-pikaos, even MilesMorales works perfectly.
