Quite a number of other issues encountered on Steam Deck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe_RCxsGwLI
Will try to grab a log file on my next run. It will hard-crash and reboot the Steam Deck on multiple points. Probably a similar problem to God of War https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5511#issuecomment-1399504207
In regards to the Map crashing the game completely here's a log for Proton Hotfix: steam-1693980.log
Some have said the map will work in Proton 7.0-5, but my first attempt there froze on a logo screen and then rebooted the Steam Deck. Log file for that: 70.log
A second attempt with 7.0-5 did indeed show the map working. Log file: steam-1693980.log
Update 1:
Starting the game sometimes results in crashing, with this error:
Or sometimes it starts but you can only see a black screen with the mouse cursor.
I see that DirectX error very consistently on my rtx 2080
Okay so I run Fedora 37 5800X3D+6700XT+32GB RAM
Got it to run on 7.0.5 crashed on map Cleaned it all after the hotfix patch for 7.0.5 and map worked. But now the game outright refuses to start and gives me a errormsg (nothing specific) with a link to EAs Studio support.
I also had my DE crashing. The game loads directly into the save. So if the game previously crashed the save is prone to be corrupted causing more crashes. That literally caused Gnome to die. So you are warned you may disable your steamcloud for testing.
Proton hotfix allowed me to enter and play the game. As with most reports on ProtonDB:
5950x, 3070 Ti, 64 GB ram, SSD, latest drivers, Arch.
It had major stuttering issue from the beginning of the game, freeze on epilepsy warning and needs to wait minutes to pass through it, and crash Steam Deck a lot that even needs reboot. Not with Valve specified Proton Hotfix and pre-shader cache that release few hours ago, it can run smooth without stuttering issue. Than you Valve!
Now the major issue is the crash when opening the map UI.
Is there somewhere to view Proton hotfix notes?
Upgrading NVIDIA driver to version 525.85.05, seems to fix the crashes, MAP works now, FPS tanks a lot, when finding a new weapon for example. Playing on 4k Ultra with AMD FSR on Auto and with Dynamic Resolution scale.
When FPS goes down, it helps to open Settings and Turn ON/OFF Dynamic Resolution, FPS comes back after that.
Actually new Proton Hotfix at 27th 16:47 UTC, according to Valve the map crash is now fixed.

No official notes, the dev said fixed map crash and VRS. https://twitter.com/Plagman2/status/1619377996615528448
New hotfix does fix map crashing, but new animations still tank fps to below 10 and doesn't recover.
Game crashes when you turn RTAO on in the settings.
Before the latest patch you could still toggle ray tracing on by changing the preset to ultra and it was working perfectly fine, however with the latest patch ultra no longer seems to toggle on RTAO by default.
I confirm, trying to enable RTAO in game results in game crashing.

@SamPurple22 @rogerizo The RTAO crash is fixed for me (RTX 2080, 525.85.05) when I build & use current vkd3d master. Most likely thanks to commits merged in https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/pull/1405
Works on steam deck, it's just that the performance is not very stable. Even if you stack FSR, DRS and VRS and get nice framerate wherever you are, enemies showing up or certain sections of the ship will tank it. It's just really hard to maintain a stable rate and in trying you will probably make the game look awful. I think this is a dev problem, because the stuttering seems to have been fixed by valve correctly with the cache
Heavy stuttering still happening even on High-End hardware like Radeon 7900 XTX and Ryzen 7950X with server grade SSD.

The game cannot reach the main menu for me. It starts to compile the shaders, the logo is spinning in the bottom right, and a few minutes later, it just crashes. Tried many Proton version (Experimental, 8.0-2, even GE versions), but nothing helped. My hardware specs: https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=cb42a3f59d Proton log: steam-1693980.zip
On Steam Deck, the game doesn't seem to activate HDR. The game reports it and sets the setting to Auto, but otherwise the game is still outputting in SDR mode. SDR Brightness in the Deck settings affect the game unlike other working HDR games. That was my result with the launch Deck docked, but another user on Reddit reported the same issue on Deck OLED.
Similar to lordgabor's comment, I start the game and a black window with a logo is created but freezes a second later.

Compatibility Report
System Information
I confirm:
steam-1693980.tar.gz
Symptoms
First start, game says Building shaders, takes a few minutes, then loads, some more stuttering/hanging on compiling shaders during the intro sequence. After the intro has finished, when you are able to control Issac, and show the in game MAP, game crashes.
So far, biggest problem is it's crashing when displaying the MAP in game.
Performance on this system is ~35 FPS on the intro so far (until crashing), with Graphics Settings on High and TAA on High. With AMD FSR On Auto FPS is more OK, ~80FPS.
Reproduction
Start the game, wait to Build shaders first time, after the intro sequence, when first controlling Isaac, try to open the MAP in game, game hangs like compiling shaders (audio works) but will crash shortly after.
Really like how after starting the game again and pressing continue, it just continues where you where (there is no more Building Shaders or loading).
Will update the report as I play more.
