I have the exact same issue, same symptoms and reproduction steps:

I also tried running Experimental and GE-Proton8.22 and GE-Proton 8.23, without logging enabled

Crashes for me after the Firefly logo

As workarounds to prevent the crash after the Firefly logo from happening two things work for me:

1. Edit the game settings under general and switch of the Steam Overlay
2. Edit the game settings under general to run the game through gamescope, e.g. gamescope -f -H 1440 -- %command%

Either the latest game update and/or the latest steam beta client update:

Steam Client Beta - November 28th Linux

• Fixed steam overlay causing rendering to stall in some titles (e.g. Watch_Dogs)
• Fixed steam overlay causing crashes in some titles

appears to have fixed this now being able to start the game and get past the Firefly logo without any workarounds applied.
