No games are working on my Linux install using Proton #7505

No matter what version of Proton, I try to use, no games or software that is designed for Windows will launch on my system, they will all just keep on crashing the moment that they attempt to load, the only software that will launch on my Linux install are ones that natively support Linux. I have tried to launch games and software using all of the different Proton versions, but nothing will launch. Even if I look on the Proton DB to see if something that isn't loading is supported on Proton, they will show they are, but they will not load at all on my system.

Hello @JCfreak1087, please copy the contents of Steam Runtime Diagnostics from Steam (Steam -> Help -> Steam Runtime Diagnostics) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report. Also, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to a couple game's launch options and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.)

Hi, I have the same issue on Linux Mint Cinnamon 21.3 and I created logs of some windows games I have. Also tested a few different proton versions (including experimental, current stable and beta)

Hello @JeroenED, looking at your system info, your video driver is broken right now and Steam is being forced to fallback to LLVMPipe (mesa's faster CPU renderer) to run at all. It's not clear, but it looks like you're trying to use an uncommon CUDA-oriented NVIDIA driver release (545.23.08) and there's something wrong with your video driver install. Switch to a different NVIDIA driver release and retest.

Proton is falling over simply because there's no usable video driver.

JeroenED commented 6 months ago

Yes, I'm indeed running a cuda oriented driver. I also run the Lc0 chess engine which requires me to do so but this one seems to fail as well currently. So I will first check into this one before checking in here again. I also run other AI stuff here so changing this one is not really an option.

$ /opt/Lc0/lc0 benchmark --weights=/opt/Lc0/nets/192x15.pb --backend=cuda-auto
/opt/Lc0/lc0: error while loading shared libraries: libcublas.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Hi, I fixed the cuda/nvidia-drivers and all issues seem to be solved.
