I believe this is due to it not loading the included ddraw dll. Though i'd recommend https://github.com/FunkyFr3sh/cnc-ddraw for more options.

MrSn0wy commented 8 months ago

thanks, download cnc-ddraw and overrided the dll in winecfg and it seems to display the menus now.

System Information

I confirm:

Symptoms

In-game, game is very laggy whenever I hover mouse over a unit or building (mouse cursor changes to custom game one from default windows one)

Reproduction

Start either C&C Tiberian Sun Start either campaign or a skirmish game Once loaded, move mouse around, hover over a unit, as default cursor is same as windows one and doesn't lag

BTW, mose lag issue also affects C&C Red Alert 2, should I comment it in https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/6208 with new logs?

Sounds like potentially the same low performance issue I'm seeing in RA2 - see the commentary over there and if following my steps makes it go away in TS. I noticed in RA2 a very jittery/stuttery mouse, and the unit speed and and slow down inconsistently.

AlexanderRavenheart commented 6 months ago

I used Proton Experimental and by following the instructions specified here (using SUN.INI instead of the RA2 filenames specified there) with the latest release of cnc-ddraw (6.3 at the time of writing this comment) I was able to play in Fullscreen at 1080p resolution with no slowdown or graphical glitches in the menus, cutscenes or missions.

I played through the first 7 missions of the GDI campaign.
