I have added PROTON_LOG=1 to the launch options and will amend the report when the bug happens the next time.

Symptoms

During gameplay, the game will sometimes pop up a window warning about an uncaught exception. See: https://imgur.com/a/D9IoMf8. Acknowledging that notice by clicking OK will close the game. Ignoring the notice and Alt-Tabbing back into the game will leave the player in a state where other players cannot see the player character or their ships and vice versa.

This particular issue does not happen when playing under Windows.

Since this game is supposed to be an MMO, this bug comes close to making it unplayable for most practical purposes.

Reproduction

The issue happens sporadically when playing. It can take minutes to hours for it to pop up. It seems to happen much more often when the player character is close to a station and there are at least two other player characters nearby. There is no simple step by step guide to reproduce it.
