I'm wondering if Valve could somehow work with EA to bring their anti-cheat over to Linux and update their games to support them.

If the lack of kernel-level access is a concern, then maybe work can be done on the Linux kernel to allow kernel modules to operate in a way that works for game anti-cheats (such as testing boot state and seeing if other modules are interfering with its functionality in any way).

I know it's far from ideal, but I don't think anti-cheat developers will even consider coming to Linux if they don't have kernel access.
