Compatibility Report

System Information

I confirm:

Symptoms

Game crashes after a few seconds or minutes, freezing the system for a bit and then showing the crash reporter

Reproduction

  1. Launch the game
  2. Wait a while or go to the profile editor and fiddle around with the looks of your avatar for a bit (I think the crash always occurs, but activity seems to speed things up)

Also affect by the same bug. Random freezes after the game started. I tested:

Proton 9.0.3 Proton Hotfix Proton Experimental

Config: Linuxmint 22 Nvidia RTX 4080 (Drivers 555) Kernel 6.8.0.47

FuzzyQuils commented 1 week ago

Could you both try PROTON_DISABLE_NVAPI=1 and/or PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=1 and see if the game runs? If both of those fail, also try VKD3D_CONFIG=nodxr as I saw some odd warnings related to raytracing in that log.

nyannyankas commented 1 week ago

Will do, as soon as Denuvo decides to let me launch the game again. Edit: After being given the finger by Frontier's support about the Denuvo issue, I've decided to refund the game. Sorry I won't be able to help with this issue anymore.

I recommend not trying to use different Proton versions with this game right now, as each one counts as an installation and will very quickly get you completely locked out of the product you've purchased for 24 hours. 🙄

artik commented 1 week ago

Same @FuzzyQuils. Locked for 24h because of Denuvo. Will do as soon as I can lauch the game again.

Game runs on my 3080Ti (Both 9.0 and experimental), but does not render properly pc1 pc2

TomMettam commented 1 week ago

Feels like this might be a raytracing issue but VKD3D_CONFIG=nodxr has no effect

runar-work commented 1 week ago

@TomMettam Which driver are you on? Can you post a Proton log?

The freeze issue seems to be related to global illumination. I'm on RTX 3070 and 565.57.01. If I turn GI up to maximum it will cause a GPU hang within a minute. On ultra it was a bit more random. So far I haven't seen any GPU hangs with GI turned off.

artik commented 1 week ago

@runar-work Thanks, turning off GI solve the freezes in my case.

@runar-work I have the same issue as @TomMettam. I am using driver version 550.127.05 with a RTX 4070 Ti Super. Here is my log file:

Log Proton Planet Coaster.zip

Edit: Smaller log file

(I also have the exact same issue on my RTX 4060 laptop with 550.127).

I also noticed that the issue disappears when the camera is near a water surface:

For unrelated reasons, I did a clean arch install on my machine, I had the rendering bug before using driver 550.127.05. I am now on 565.57.01, and the issue disappeared using my RTX 4070Ti Super.
