[HL2/EP1/EP2] Corrupted shadows #1174

Textures, which are being "lightened" by flashlight seem to be glitched - mixing issue?

Occurs purely random, but frequently. Not game-breaking, yet game experience is not complete. Please note, what if you move mouse some degrees in any place or move the character, the bug occurs not at this place, but rather another one:

Arch Linux i686, Xfce4 4.10 + Xfwm + Compton (git), Radeon HD5770, Catalyst 13.6. Ubuntu 12.04.2 showed likewise troubles (see http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=163371334) with texture mixing, so please don't blame me for using another distro.

UPDATE: Episode Two has likewise issue, but not by flashlight. Did not yet test on CSS, TF2 and original HL2.

@ivdok Does this issue occur with Catalyst 13.8 beta 2?

I can't currently check - 13.7 introduced performance slowdown, and 13.8 additionally has memory leaks and dropped (?) support of XvBA-powered video playback. I'm sorry for this.

There's no reason to apologize, I asked the question in attempt to raise the probability of resolving the issue. The most recent driver will be needed to be tested at some point in order to determine if AMD has already deployed a "fix", even if you do not intend to keep it.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use 13.8 drivers, so I can't report anything for this version. http://pastebin.com/8vyhgmnb - logged attempts.

Duplicate of #638, but it was closed prematurely. Those of us stuck using the 13.1 "legacy drivers" because our cards were made before 2010 still have this issue.

@stevethepocket Strongly disagree. I have HD 5770, And Catalyst 13.6. These are yet supported.

Reopened issue - that bug does NOT affect L4D2 (Linux) and Alien Swarm (and other Valve titles) under Wine. Looks like OpenGL problem.

Closing as general video driver quality from 2013 is no longer relevant. If you are still experiencing this issue with an up to date system, please open a new issue report.
