[HL:S][HLDM:S] Why HL:S and HLDM:S are seperated on source engine? #1416

Just asking. Why Half-Life: Source and Half-Life Deathmatch: Source are seperated on Source engine? They are combined on GoldSrc engine and they are always sold as bundle so everyone has HL:S has HLDM:S and vice versa.

Seperating SP and MP part makes unused disk space, makes more bugs needs to be fixed on both games, wasting extra space on our steam library.

Can't we combine these games like GoldSrc?

These games were released at seperate times. HLS was released in 2004 with HL2, and DMS was released in June 2005.

I see that there's a "hl1" foldier in the Half-Life 2 directory.

Rupurudu commented 11 years ago

@Lambda- But everyone have HLS got DMS isn't it? so It doesn't make a difference.

@BreakinBenny Yes, but DMS is seperated on another folder.

@MustafaCan Then "hl1mp" should also go into the Half-Life 2 directory, perhaps.

The MP product has a different update schedule due to its online component, this split is by design.
