[L4D] Impossible to install Dedicated Server from HLDSUpdateTool or SteamCMD on Linux #1554

Closed powerlord closed 10 years ago

powerlord commented 10 years ago

The HLDSUpdateTool Content Delivery Network has been shut down, but it's not currently possible to install Left 4 Dead from SteamCMD either... at least not on Linux.

Installing appid 510 gives you "invalid platform"

Installing appid 222840 gives you "No subscription" regardless of whether you log in as anonymous or as a user that owns L4D.

I can confirm the reported Issue. (Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS)

Attano commented 10 years ago

I found this issue already after I had created a similar thread in the community discussions. I think they just don't care. http://steamcommunity.com/app/550/discussions/3/666827315964404733/

Sad but true. I have no idea what to do if I lose mine dedicated server backups.

powerlord commented 10 years ago

It only took six months, but this has finally been fixed.

The server SteamID is 222840 as stated in the first post.

exussum12 commented 10 years ago

I still get ERROR! Failed to install app '222840' (No subscription) when logged in and owning the game

powerlord commented 10 years ago

@exussum12 Valve requires you to use the anonymous user to install their game servers.

exussum12 commented 10 years ago
Steam>app_update 222840
ERROR! Failed to request AppInfo update, not online or not logged in to Steam.

When im not logged in
