Left 4 Dead 2 Beta - Update 5 Dec 2013
Product Update - Valve
An update has been released for Left 4 Dead 2 Beta.
[EDIT]
- Removed SSE2 requirement that was added during the Linux port.
[EDIT]
Looks like the bug was introduced by Linux port. Does nobody test this stuff on a min req machine before pushing updates?
@paf2k9, is this issue still present on any titles?
@jorgenpt, Yes HL2:DM Issue #1560 and CS:S Issue #1353. Could be others that I am not aware of but should be limited to older Source 1 based games.
Is there an update schedule for these titles? Any chance of including a fix for this issue at next update? These users have been locked out for nearly 3 months now.
HL2:DM, CS:S and DoD:S should be updated in the near future, and it should resolve this issue.
when ??? :') i wait this moment with "impatience" (i'm french) and there is just the english who has the most subject with this problem
This bug already reported against Counter-Strike: Source as Issue #1353.
Opening this New Issue against HL2:DM to give visibility across studios as the problem affects multiple titles. Looks like CS:S, HL2:DM, TF2 & L4D2.
Also, this is Windows (+ Mac??) specific. Linux is unaffected as SSE2 is a baseline Steam requirement on that platform.
It's a regression introduced by updates published 17 Sept (CS:S), 18 Sept (HL2:DM) etc.
The bug is hardware specific and affects only CPUs without SSE2 capability like AMD Athlon XP family.
A TF2 update (12 Nov) changelog entry says the issue is fixed:
Will the TF2 fix automatically propagate to other affected titles at next update?
See Issue #1353 for original bug report, screenshot and comments.
