This applies to HL2, HL2:Ep1, HL2:Ep2, Portal, HL2:DM, DoD:S, CS:S, and TF2
All games since Left 4 Dead's release in 2009 have their own separate Authoring Tools package, but all older games continued to use the Source SDK package in Steam.
Since the SteamPipe update, the Source SDK Launcher has been deprecated and people are told to use the versions of Hammer, HLMV, and the like that are included with the game.
However, the sample files for each game are still located only in the Source SDK install.
My proposal is that each of these games should now have their own Authoring Tools packages with the appropriate versions of the tools and any sample files necessary for the game in question. Additionally, a game-specific version of the Launcher should be included to make it easier to launch these tools, much like the existing Authoring Tools packages do.
