[TF2] Kill-Steak count inconsistent (HUD does not match kill notifications) #1762

Open Mecha-Weasel opened 10 years ago

Mecha-Weasel commented 10 years ago

I noticed today that (sometimes?) the kill-steak count that scrolls-by in the upper-right corner with each kill does NOT match the kill-steak count shown for the current weapon in the HUD.

This seems to be relatively "new" - probably no more recent than the "Love and War" update - or the fixes right after that.

Here is a link to a screen-capture of what I am talking about ... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=276304835

I am not certain if this happens will all weapons, or whether it even happens all the time - but definitely noticed it sniping tonight.

Do you know if any of the "kills" were on Dead Ringer spies?

Mecha-Weasel commented 10 years ago

Sorry, no I do not know what combination of classes may have been included in that particular streak. I assume there was at least one kill of a spy in there (since there were plenty of spies playing that day), but I couldn't swear to it.

powerlord commented 10 years ago

@Mecha-Weasel I was just wondering if it was related to the kill feed including fake spy kills (which I know it does) and the weapon count not including them.

However, as I recall, the weapon count should be including fake Spy kills as well as them being in the kill feed...

Mecha-Weasel commented 10 years ago

Well, in my case, the HUD count was 1 higher (10) than the notification count (9). I would expect the opposite for fake spy kills - show in the notifications that there was a kill, when there really wasn't?

powerlord commented 10 years ago

@Mecha-Weasel Good point.

Incidentally, was it showing you the tier 2 kill count effect (if this was a pro kit that is)? Also, do you have more than one weapon with killstreak kits? I've never actually compared the HUD to the notification count, but I know the actual killstreak effects and notifications are based off of the combined count.

Mecha-Weasel commented 10 years ago

This was a basic/standard kill-streak kit most-likely. I have multiple weapons with KS kits applied, however all those kills (9 or 10 depending on which you believe) were all with a KS'd sniper rifle.
