L4D (Mac) - Low performance #1977

L4D seems to perform significantly worse than L4D2 for me. In L4D2 I consistently get over 100 frames per second even with graphics settings turned up, but in L4D I hover around 60 or lower with the settings on low and resolution lowered. It can sometimes even drop to 25-30 FPS during hordes, which never happens in L4D2. This is my hardware:

MacBook Pro 8,2 OS X 10.11.4 i7 2720 Quad core AMD Radeon 6750M with 1 GB VRAM 16 GB memory

@1157, checking for the latest driver is irrelevant to MacOS, as Apple by policy does not allow vendor drivers. Yes, nVidia has made a driver for MacOS, but it's been done by brute force without public cooperation from Apple and the nVidia mac driver has to be matched to the exact build of MacOS.

My take on this is that L4D is using an older Directx9 -> OpenGL translation layer that predates ToGL (which is in L4D2), and is less efficient than it's relatively newer counterpart.

You should stop opening Issues without posting your specs from Steam > Help > System Information, so you can help devs to fix your issues.
