[TF2] Matchmaking Issue #2145

Ever since the MyM update was released and after TF2 matchmaking system is using the same network datagram as other recent Source games, it has become difficult for me to queue in a party with friends from other continents (me being in Vietnam, the others are from the US (Texas), Germany, Canada, Denmark, Poland). The matchmaker is seemingly unable to determine the most suitable server for everyone in the party, leaving us in the queue for a long amount of time (an hour or so, we did not have the patience to wait any longer). If I leave the party however, my friends will instantly get matched to a server as soon as they queue without any problem.

We have tested with queuing me with only people from EU, and only people from the US, but it doesn't change anything. Maxing custom ping limit doesn't help, either. The only one time exception is when I was queuing with a friend from California, US and it brought us to Tokyo server consistently (which I guess is fine).

Mann vs. Machine matchmaking with them is fine however, and doesn't seem to suffer any problem like the above. I can also solo queue for casual fine for the most part.

I don't have any custom mods installed for the game, and I disable any software and hardware firewall everytime I queue for casual. If there's any other info on my side that I could give to help determine the issue, I'd be glad to do so.

Can confirm. It also happens for me, when I play with my friend from Brazil. MvM works. Making Ping Limit 399 and not auto fixes the problem

Same thing. I am from the Europe region but cannot seem to join a casual match with my friends from South Asia. It says "Queued for match" or something forever until I leave the party, they can join each other's matches fine though.
