Source games - FPS drops and slowdowns after minimizing #238

Closed mattyy1hp closed 7 years ago

mattyy1hp commented 11 years ago

I noticed that all Source games have a big slowdowns if they are minimalized and maximized.

I noticed this in following games:

Steps to reproduce: 1/ Start any game described above 2/ Connect to any server 3/ Minimize a game (ALT+Tab, WIN+D etc.) 4/ Maximize a game 5/ You may now have very unstable and lower FPS

Solution is disconnect from a server and re-connect or restart a game.

For example:

I tried:

@mattyy1hp - it looks like AMD release 13.3 Beta 3 and in that release they fixed this: [371733]: Team Fortress 2 - Change settings without restarting would reduce FPS down to the 20s/30s

Not 100% sure it'll fix this problem, but it sounds like it might. Can you upgrade to 13.3 Beta 3 and see if this fixes your problem?

mattyy1hp commented 11 years ago

@bdeen-valve I already have the 13.3 Beta2 drivers installed. It's same like on 13.1.

bdeen-valve commented 11 years ago

@mattyy1hp - AMDs fix is in 13.3 Beta 3.

mattyy1hp commented 11 years ago

@bdeen-valve Oh, sorry. I will try it.

mattyy1hp commented 11 years ago

It's still reproducible on 13.3 beta3.

plomoman commented 11 years ago

I noticed this too, but the 13.3 Beta 3 seems to have fixed this. I can freely tab out and in the game like I was used to :)

@mattyy1hp, can you please post your system information again from Steam after your update?

mattyy1hp commented 11 years ago
