@Vash63 - are you behind some proxy server that might have a unique configuration?
I noticed: Thu Apr 25 03:28:10 2013 GMT: file ''/tmp/dumps/crash_20130424202810_1.dmp'', upload no: ''HTTP response code said error'' Thu Apr 25 03:42:04 2013 GMT: file ''/tmp/dumps/assert_20130424204204_1.dmp'', upload no: ''HTTP response code said error''
Which means that your crash dumps are being posted to our minidump server... It could also be triggering the issue you're seeing during startup.
Nope, just through a standard home router's NAT directly connected to a Cox cable line. No proxy. It works on the same PC in Windows, though I haven't tried the Steam pipe beta. CSGO works.
Edit: cleanup email crud .
Okay... this isn't going to help you debug much (unfortunately), but I fixed the issue. I uninstalled the game, noticed Steam left about 1.5GB of content (which I backed up if that helps), deleted the 1.5GB of content and redownloaded it fresh with Steampipe from the very beginning. Now it works fine.
Just to make clear, I had run the game through multiple steps of "Verifying Game Content" prior to trying this so I know Steam THOUGHT it had it all correctly downloaded. Maybe some of the older files were still there conflicting with the stuff in the new vpks? It was an old install dating back prior to the Steam Linux beta being invite-based.
I'll take a quick look, but please let us know if this happens again for you.
Looks to be the same issue as https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/2335 which was fixed in today's update.
Assuming fixed. Thanks @tombsar for investigating
I decided to try the TF2 steampipe beta to get the improved load times. It worked - loading was 1/4 what it used to be. Once I get to the MOTD page, it goes on for about 1-2 seconds with perfect audio (can hear players running around) and then crashes. Also tested it in training mode.
