[L4D1] sv_steamgroup doesn't link proper group and Leeching issues #3527

L4D2 has had a long standing issue where setting the 'sv_steamgroup' command would show a completely different Steam group instead of the one set in the server.cfg file. This has since been fixed in L4D2 but now server Leeching has only gotten more popular due to multiple Servers using the same group ID to link multiple Servers to one group and force players to connect to that server instead by exploiting the match making system. This should be limited to only allow one Steam group ID to be linked to a Server.

Bump

I'm not really sure why this error happens, but it exists, I have my server and it doesn't show me the group, it just keeps showing me the L4D group, we have to use a plugin to solve this, while VALVE does nothing.

I've tried using the sv_steamgroup fix plugin but it doesn't work in L4D1 very well for some reason. The motd page is usually where it would show a different steam group than the one set in the server.cfg file. This can make players confused as to which Steam group the server belongs to.

As always VALVE, we don't know what the **** is in the head, it doesn't fix the bugs in the game, and we have to look for external means to fix them.
