i think many issues are fixed in this mod, except light is also from goldsrc version.

any way to merge this with official valve content?

ObsidianPlague commented 2 years ago

if so i'd hope they actually ask for permission and credit the author this time instead of just doing a repeat of what they did with the hd pack (stealing it without permission nor credit)

umm ofc, i really just hope they hire the guy for hls updates tbh

The end-of-life status of Half-Life Source proves that an outdated software patching law funded by the ESA, SIIA and BSA isn't feasible for Valve for their unmaintained PC games.

Their employees do whatever project they want to do, so any bugs that have been unfixed in their GoldSrc, Source 1 & 2 games won't ever be fixed by them in-house, including the lack of skin support in HL2:DM and everything related to Half-Life Source. Do you really think that Valve would dedicate time, money and resources for a software patching law that hasn't been maintained or updated ever since the start of both the COVID-19 pandemic and the ninth-generation of game consoles? Absolutely NOT! And this for @kisak-valve, Just because Valve hasn't developed a console game in-house since CSGO's initial launch in 2012 doesn't mean that they are a true member of the ESA, SIIA & BSA. Only the modding scene has had far more luck and success fixing those Source engine bugs that Valve has been unable to fix in-house for decades.

IMO, Valve should've just integrated the fixed mod into Half-Life Source rather than put it at end-of-life support, maybe even hire BloodyMuffin. In addition, Valve should alter their community fixes policies to include their unmaintained PC games as well.
