L4D2 leaks IP addresses when playing singleplayer #3768

if you're playing the game in singleplayer and someone tries to join you, it'll say that the server is not responding, and it will give them what appears to be YOUR OWN IP ADDRESS. Please advise, this seems to be a great way to accidentally leak people's IP addresses.

As far as I know, this happens with every single source engine game if you start up and join a local server. People can also acquire the IP through the "Join Game" button on your Steam profile by right clicking it, and clicking "Copy Link Address". By default, your game details on Steam are only viewable by your friends, so this really shouldn't affect anyone unless they have their game details set to Public, or if one of their friends are working against them for some reason.

For extra protection, I'd suggest double checking if your game details are public. To do this, go to your Steam profile page, click "Edit Profile", then go to "Privacy Settings". There should be a dropdown menu under "Game Details". Make sure that "Friends Only" is selected for that option. Changing this setting should automatically save your changes.
