1. Update Half-Life 2 to latest version 2. Launch Half-Life 2 3. Play Half-Life 2 without any issues
Are you using nvidia, i have a 1060 and the issue persists.

Yes, I'm using Nvidia GT220 As Kisak said, it's probably an issue with your graphics driver or kernel.
