Half-Life 2 update broke the linux version of it! #3848

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

The Linux version of half life2 hard crashes my pc after the new update!

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Launch it with regular Linux opengl version
  2. It hard crashes my pc and have to restart

Hello @blastermaster77, no OpenGL application including Half-Life 2 should be capable of taking down the entire system, which hints that you've encountered a kernel or video driver issue. Please copy your system information from Steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report.

Half-Life 2 update did not break Linux compatibility.

Are you using nvidia, i have a 1060 and the issue persists.

Yes, I'm using Nvidia GT220 As Kisak said, it's probably an issue with your graphics driver or kernel.

@blastermaster77 A new HL2 update was released today.
Are you still experiencing the issues, and have you tried any of the other suggestions?
