Your system information

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Some friends decided to play L4D2 so i decided to join them, but when i tried to launch L4D2 i was unable to reach the menu. I reached the point as shown in the screenshot attached. I get no error message at all and i have no clue what to do. The game worked fine around a week ago. Running what i believe should be the native linux version.

The only thing i can recall changing is using the "Change Account" feature in steam so i can access and download a game in another user's (family member's) library. Both accounts have L4D2 inside their library, and i have tried launching it from both accounts with no success. Other games work fine.

Since finding the error, i have attempted to verify files, which did not fix the issue. I have also completely uninstalled and re-installed it, which has also failed to fix the issue.

The initial movie and logo boot up fine, but if i rapidly press something like the esc key the loading page.

I am unable to get to the main menu, so i can't play at all.

Tried to remove all mods, still had no success.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Add a 2nd account, in my case both have L4D2 on it.
  2. launch L4D2
  3. See if it crashes.

I contacted steam support about this and after a completely useless message asking me for details i already provided, i was informed steam is only supported on Ubuntu, which i have no intention of going back to. I was referred here.
