[TF2] Stuttering on a listen servers #6080

Open JoriKos opened 3 months ago

JoriKos commented 3 months ago

When I heal people in a listen server, my game looks like it's skipping frames. Not sure if this is listen server-exclusive, but it doesn't happen in Casual servers (maybe Linux/Windows server difference?).

To replicate, simply spawn a friendly bot after using the map command, then start healing it. When running around, the game stutters heavily.

Edit: After some testing, it seems like the same happens with the Gas Passer. The first time it's fine, but the second time it starts stuttering. cl_showerror 2 shows the errors to be prediction errors.

If you do cl_showerror 2, I believe you'll see that there are a bunch of prediction errors that coincide with the choppiness. It seems to only happen on listen servers.

Yeah, I get this too.

I updated the issue, it's now about general prediction errors in listen servers. @kisak-valve I'm not sure if this is a duplicate of anything already, or if changing the issue to be broader is against some kind of rule.

I've also noticed that the speed boost effect, like from the Disciplinary Action boost and the Concheror rage, also creates prediction errors. Listen server is in Windows too

It also occurs in Casual and community servers, so I guess it's not a Windows only issue
