First question is what is your system setup (as requested at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games#reporting-games).
Second, has this always happened or did it just start?
Third, did you have the game installed on another client?
Oops. Right. I pulled them up and then forgot to paste them:

And this has been going on since the first version of the beta; I'm just getting around to posting it because I didn't want to be That Guy Who Spams GitHub With A Million Issues At Once.
Finally, I don't have the beta installed on my Windows machine yet, because I wanted to be able to confirm or deny other bugs being present in both versions, but I do have a second Windows machine downstairs. If I opt in to the betas on that, will I be forced to install the beta on my regular rig as well, or is it on a per-machine basis?
You shouldn't need the beta version, but I have seen some oddities popping up on occasion. It might be worth checking to see if you have -novid
as part of your game's run options.
I don't have it on, if that's what you mean.
Just one thing I thought of off the top of my head.
@stevethepocket , beta options for games are per machine.
The reason I brought all that up was that the 2010 update introduced a bug with the intro video in HL2 and Episode One. It seems to be gone in the beta, though, so I guess it's not related to this issue.
Not showing the intro videos is a bug, I have a fix for that.
What was the bug the 2010 update introduced originally?
@Plagman: The video doesn't upscale gracefully and stretches to fit the native resolution (see screencap below), and trying to skip it fails but causes the video to freeze just as the Valve part starts to fade out.
I've noticed that neither the Half-Life 2 games nor Portal displays the intro video with the Valve and Source logos when they start. In the case of Portal I assumed it was intentional and would be added back in after the beta is over, since it jumps right in to the initial loading screen.
In the case of the Half-Life 2 games, however, the video is replaced with a lengthy screen full of technicolor TV snow. This is partly due to my video setup; many games (and Big Picture Mode) pop up this static for about half a second before starting. But in this case it lingers for longer than the logo video normally lasts (I timed it). Between this and #611, I wonder if there's just something wrong with the engine's Bink Video handler.
Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, and the Left 4 Dead 2 beta all display their intro videos properly.
