[HL2DM] Client Console Flooded With Errors During Gameplay #997

A few updates ago (I believe the SteamPipe update), the client console started getting flooded with error messages like this...

weapon_slam[83]: Playing sequence 19 but there's only 2 in total? weapon_pistol[534]: Playing sequence 7 but there's only 2 in total? weapon_crossbow[494]: Playing sequence 3 but there's only 2 in total? weapon_physcannon[574]: Playing sequence 4 but there's only 4 in total? weapon_357[601]: Playing sequence 2 but there's only 2 in total?

It seems the more players in the server, the worse it gets. At times, I have seen it flood the console at about a rate of 30+ errors per second or more. You may not notice it if you are in there by yourself. It affects ALL players' consoles on every server and it makes it virtually impossible for server operators/admins to use/read anything in the console. Some people even say it lags their game due to all the errors being spewed out.

The only way to currently eliminate the messages is to use the following console commands.

con_filter_enable 1 con_filter_text_out "Playing sequence"

Sorry if this was posted before, but I could not find it in the issues list..

[EDIT - Here's some footage so you can see what we see - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaCkndkXn-g]

I can confirm this is an issue also. At first I thought it was a plugin error, but after eliminating all plugins, the problem persisted!

Thanks! I've been meaning to post this issue for a while. I even tried completely deleting the hl2dm folder in steam and re-downloading it with fresh configs, and this issue persists.

Jds1234 commented 11 years ago

would this error co-inside with this bug report: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/983

Pricetx commented 11 years ago

@Jds1234 in a sense, yes. It started happening with the same update that caused those issues.

Jds1234 commented 11 years ago

so valve have not fully fixed the issues after the update, only fixed the jittery gameplay...thats really sly of valve really...they need to fix that, what about the footstep sounds are those fixed?

squimball commented 11 years ago

@ALL In regards to when the console started getting flooded... This was happening before they messed all the other stuff up. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I believe that it coincided with the update that converted the game over to SteamPipe. It also may have been the update right after that. I'm just going by memory, but I know FOR SURE that the two most recent updates didn't cause it...

@DigitalStuffMan Footsteps/client movement broke 2 updates ago. The last update fixed that, but weapon interpolation was apparently not fixed. You have to aim like 10 feet ahead of someone to hit them...

Jds1234 commented 11 years ago

@DigitalStuffMan i heared the footstep sound stopped after the 26/06/13 update... @squimball if you noticed DigitalStuffMan pointed his question at me, not for you to answer...

when will this crap get fixed?

Looks like it will get no fix at all.
