Working on one of my steamboxes I have lying around, and I cannot get HDMI sound from the device, it doesn't show up in alsa mixer but does show up as a device when running cat /proc/asound/cards so I'm left with how to properly configure the sound device, I've bricked the OS twice trying to fix this. Any help?

Device does not show up in alsa mixer but does in cat /proc/asound/cards but also shows up as an Intel hda ati HDMI audio device. When the system is first booted, the sound settings say digital HDMI but there's no sound and when you reconfigure only the analouge device shows up. Driver issue?

I can start producing outputs soon as the family is asleep
