I don't know what is all involved with getting this to work in SteamOS BPM, but I do host CEC packages, since it is required to build Kodi for my repository. I don't know if this would help you, but if you want to try, of course make sure you backup your system.

Hey, Professor! Big fan. :) Alright, so I got home, installed libcec through your Stuffs, and I can confirm that with BPM -- nothing happens. Kodi still works fine with the remote (as it did prior to, installed thanks to your repo), but I suspect it takes more than just the package being installed for it to work with BPM. I admit to having no idea on where to begin with something like that, though I'd be happy to help in any way that I could, but I admit that my coding / script skills are way below yours.
Hmm, not sure. I'll check around tomorrow if I remember, see what I can find out.
Thaaat would be awesome! Thanks for taking the time! :D
Has there ever been progress on this? I got stuck at the same place as HereInPlainSight back then. The adapter is able to switch my TV on/off but Steamos and Kodi do not show it anywhere to be connected.
Correction to the above. The adapter does work in Kodi but not in BPM. Kodi responds to TV remote inputs but BPM does not.
I would also like to see Consumer Electronics Control support in Big Picture Mode.
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
It would be nice for those with CEC capabilities (admittedly, https://www.pulse-eight.com/p/104/usb-hdmi-cec-adapter is the only way I know of) to be able to use our TV remotes to browse the store / libraries. I don't expect it to replace controller function in games, but if I'm not sure what I want to play yet, I already had to use the remote to switch inputs, I'd rather browse with my remote before I go for my controller or keyboard / mouse. It would also be nice to work with the audio section of the client.

I feel like I can't be the first one to suggest this as the Steambox is being made for a living room scenario. I didn't find it in a search though, sorry if I missed it somewhere.
