SteamController on Syber Steam Machine; SteamOS2.0 can't configure so i can't play more and more games with my controller! #531

System specs:SYBER VAPOR STEAM PC Gaming Console Chassis Core™ i7-4790K 4.0 GHz 8MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1150 (All Venom OC Certified) HDD: 1 TB 7200RPM SATA300 Hard Drive MEMORY: 16GB (8GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (Corsair) MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE Z97N-Gaming 5 Mini-ITX w/ 802.11ac WiFi + BT 4.0, Killer GbLAN, 1 PCIe x16, 4x SATA 6Gb/s (Extreme OC Certified) OS: Steam OS VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 (Maxwell) (Single Card)

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen. More and more games won't let me configure the controller, and thus become unplayable without plugging in a keyboard. I play this on the couch, so I want to avoid this option. It keeps saying I can't load my configurations, and to please try later. Later never happens, and this seems to be a permanent problem no matter what I do to fix it. It's getting worse, because more of my games are being affected, for instance I was playing Pillars of Eternity fine until my configuration is suddenly changed, making it unplayable, and any attempts to reconfigure it are denied like how I described above.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Go to game library
  2. Manage
  3. Configure Controller
  4. Receive an error message: "Configuration Failure - We were unable to load your configuration at this time. Please try again later."

BUMP and UPDATE(7/3/2016): So many games I bought on the steam sale are unplayable on my steam machine because I keep getting the same error message! It would mean the world for me to be able to enjoy my vacation from work by destressing and playing some of my favorite games! Unfortunately, so many of my games are unplayable because of this problem!!

I have games that run fine, and I can configure as usual. THere are games that I can upload community, recommended, and default templates, but not alter them in any way. Then there are games that won't allow me to alter, save, or add my own keybindings whatsoever. They run, but I am never able to load controller configuration. I would like to add that during my testing, i realized that playing completely disconnected from the internet and offline mode allowed me to set keybindings and play certain games. For single player games like Pillars of Eternity, this is a viable work around if not a pain in the butt, but for other games like Forced: Showdown it doesn't help.

Please, someone from Valve, help!

Hi,

Can you post the serial number of your controller so we can look up your configurations?

I have checked with all three of my steam controllers and no luck, affected games include:

Crypt of the Necrodancer Forced Forced Showdown Pillars of Eternity Wasteland 2 Insurgency Darkwood ARK: Survival Evolved Portal 2 Terraria
