Are you sure this is a SteamOS only issue? Searching lends me to believe not.

It was one of the first games I played with on SteamOS 1.0 . . .

mdeguzis commented 8 years ago

1.0 is unsupported. I didn't see if you were on brewmaster?

TheSpaniard14 commented 8 years ago

Yes, I have 2.0, and opted in for the latest beta build.

mdeguzis commented 8 years ago

Hmm, well I have a GTX 770 right now, Intel CPU, OS beta. I will try to launch it today if I have time. Regardless of your statement about playing this on SteamOS 1.0 (I played and beat this game on 2.0 a few months ago), that's not to say it's not a game dev issue vs. SteamOS. It would be beneficial to also post in the game forum with your details, linking here possibly as well.

I did before I posted here, and I was advised that this would be the correct place to post for this.

Transistor is running out of the box on the steam machine Zotac Nen (SteamOS 2.0) .

Maybe something is wrong with your hardware or SteamOS installation.

Reinstall the game, and before launching it, connect over ssh and run tail -f /tmp/dumps/steam_stdout.txt to monitor what may be going on.

sprunge is a good method to send CLI output to a pastebin (short of using pastebinit, which is broken on SteamOS). Capture log output to sprunge link for us to look at (after trying this):

cat /tmp/dumps/steam_stdout.txt | curl -F 'sprung=<-' http://sprunge.us

If you don't want to use sprunge, going to desktop mode, open the file, and paste the consents to your favorite site like paste.ubuntu.com, slexy.org, etc.

Can you check your $LANG environment variable? This hit a bunch of FNA titles recently; for some reason games are now crashing because the locale is set to en_US instead of en_US.UTF8, which used to be the default. If it doesn't end with .UTF8, change it accordingly and try again.

@TheSpaniard14 did you do an Expert Install of SteamOS?

TheSpaniard14 commented 8 years ago

No sir, I did not. I did copy some files over from the old install, but I don't remember what they were at this point. . .
