Bluetooth adapter doesn't work out of the box.

USB Bluetooth adapter bcm20702a1 requires firmware not found in bluez-firmware. Manufactuer instructions are at http://plugable.com/2014/06/23/plugable-usb-bluetooth-adapter-solving-hfphsp-profile-issues-on-linux

I can confirm manufacturer instructions work. I strongly suggest using both file names (making copies as in the instructions) as many random adapters use this firmware.

This should be resolved upstream before looking into updating SteamOS.

Unfortunately this will never be resolved upstream. The dev considers firmware legacy, from http://www.bluez.org/download/ "bluez-firmware also figures in the deprecated category:

bluez-firmware-1.2.tar.gz"
