[BUG] Horizontal screen tearing on valve index #551

Open XDM-Inc opened 1 year ago

XDM-Inc commented 1 year ago

Describe the bug ever since steamvr updated i get this horizontal screen tearing effect on my Valve index. i have been testing this for a while now, does not happen in windows. i can mitigate it by using a VERY old version of steamvr (v 14 or 1.15) and lowering to 120hz. but in doing that another glitch happens, you cant use the steam overlay when you downgrade the steamvr the performance monitor is showing me that reprojected frames across the board and additionally a tiny display error every 1 second exactly.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. launch into vr mode
  2. launch steamvr (or any game)

Expected behavior get same performance as old steamvr

Can't reproduce on RADV on a RX 6800 XT. Maybe NVIDIA only?

also by using NATIVE steam mitigates it a little bit. i can use the old version of steamvr and launch the games that way. the screen tearing moves to the upper 15% of the screen which is more tolerable but still distracting.

I'm actually getting this as well and have for a few months I think? I have a RTX 3080. i've tried messing with the nvidia control panel a bit and think it improved, but I am also on Steamvr's Displayport training mode B/compatibility mode B.
