Looking at network traffic, it doesn't even contact the fast DL server at all when downloading custom content like maps.
It works fine when downloading the MOTD though (also hosted on a fast DL server)
This also happens on OSX since the last big mac update. It gets stuck on 25% constantly and then disconnects. If the map is already downloaded, connecting works fine
I should note it DOES download maps from the workshop. (I tried timedemo'ing a demo recording to benchmark the performance, and that demo used an older version of de_dust2. Upon loading the demo, It downloaded it the map file just fine.)
I cannot download maps or custom content it just its at 0% and nothing happens.
Only way to go around this is to set cl_downloadfilter "none"
then manually download and put all files needed to play in correct dirs.
Confirming.

same here. just sits at 0% and I have to kill the game to get out.
:+1:
For some reason I was able to download both the map and the files from this particular server, can anyone else verify? 71.237.239.114:27016
It was on aim_redline fwiw.
I was able to download the files and played on the server.
I was able download from it as well.
I'm pretty sure the reason for that was because it was downloading directly from the server (or possibly the workshop) as opposed to downloading from a fast DL server like most servers use (which doesn't work).
Does anyone know how to disable downloading drom fast download? I mean this files are on the csgo server and fdl server.
Can you please provide an example of a server which doesn't work?
@davidw-valve Any server with fast downloads enabled, 208.146.44.44:27015, 208.146.44.163:27015, etc...
72.5.195.237:27015 74.91.119.123:27015
185.36.169.126:27301 79.133.192.165:27111 All community servers require custom music, models etc. and they keep this on fdl servers.

When csgo will be updated? valve pls
This issue might be related to problems with sv_downloadurl in the linux version
This is fixed now.
@ceribik Im not sure, i was playing on a map and they changed it. It downloaded the map but stopped at 90% when downloading some textfile and would not continue. Had to reconnect and it worked.
@CommanderAlchemy @ceribik I have also had issues with downloads pausing mid-way, usually after a couple minutes, from multiple servers. In one instance, I had to disconnect/reconnect four times in order to successfully join the server.
The type of file doesn't seem to matter from what I've gathered.
Tested on SetamOS and LinuxMint17 with fresh install, same problem: won't download bz2 files, on normal files (bsp and mp3) it works
+1 still happening for me. On several servers.
Still happening as well on several servers.
Can confirm, can't join any MG/BHOP/JB servers at all as it fails to download them.
@vikeyev
if you come to cmgsourceclan.net we can help you download the content manually and connect to our servers. Not the ideal solution, I agree, but maybe better than nothing.
@gdrewb-valve Any news on this issue?
I'm not familiar with the CS:GO side of things, you'll need to wait for somebody from that team to comment.
I have a similar issue on Arch, except the client will download a number of files and then stop at 0% on an arbitrary download. Disconnecting and attempting to connect either to that server again or any other server that requires a download results in the first download sticking at 0% leaving you unable to join the server. The issue resolves itself once you restart the game client.
Same here. Ubuntu 15.04

Same here, I even downloaded the file but is still trying to download it...
I just did some testing on one server (203.33.121.202:27080) and it seems to timeout after 60 seconds if a map/file download takes longer than 60 seconds.
I can confirm it still doesn't work as expected. I was able to play a community map from one server, and from then the download starts, stops randomly to download the rest of the assets and then disconnects me for missing map.
Still not working on Ubuntu 16.04.
Confirming this is still happening on Ubuntu 17.04. Maybe helpful: i was able to download the first map on the community server, but the second one sent me into this. Possible workaround is downloading the map manual, but thats not cool.
Three years and this is still an issue. Fedora 25 and I can't download community maps or any assets.
Still happening here. Manjaro Linux
Any updates on possible fixes (besides manual installing)? This has been happening to me on Manjaro Linux for months.
This just started happening to me on community servers, after working fine since I started playing on Linux, no idea what changed.
This has returned for me as well.
Latest Debian stable with non-free packages firmware-amd-graphics and steam installed.
Expert install with only "GNOME" selected in the software selection menu (everything else unticked).
@gdrewb-valve could it be fixed again please?

Hi. Yesterday I changed from Windows to Linux Ubuntu Desktop. I installd steam and csgo. CSGO is running fine except for one thing. After joining ANY community server like bhop, surf G4TK, jailbreak,.... It says: Downloading map mapname 0%/0bytes. I waited 2 hours, and I still have 0%. I dont see any errors in console after connecting. Here is photo of loading screen and console: https://ctrlv.cz/xW6y I tried reinstall, chmod. But nothing worked. Thanks for help!
Can confirm this happens on linux mint 18.3. It also affects maps/resources from the workshop - they seem to be downloaded but it hangs on 'initializing world'.
same here 16.04
Same here Arch Linux
It used to work fine
Has anyone tested if this is a permissions issue? Linux not allowing you to download external files , try sudo
I tried connecting several "community" servers (worked around the issue #3 by connecting with the connect command through the console). Each and every time, if the server needs custom files, the game starts a download but it is stuck at 0%, indefinitelly/ I tried those same custom file URLs with wget and with a web browser and outside the game, those files download perfectly fine, so it's definitely a problem with the game itself.
