Player spawns without hands (arms viewmodel) #1420

Open JMorell opened 7 years ago

JMorell commented 7 years ago

Since gloves were introduced, certain community gamemodes have had issues with arms viewmodels not rendering. The issue seems to happen across all operating systems, and seems more common when the player model being used is custom or the player is respawned mid-round. This is specially damning for zombie gamemodes, in which both events ocurr. Community servers have tackled the issue with plugins forcing the default, stock gloves, but this is far from ideal as it is not clear whether or not they are subject to the same restriction policy as knives and weapon skins.

The following image shows how it looks like: NO HANDS

Hello @JMorell, please copy your system information from steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report. Additionally, please include your .../userdata/<steamid>/730/local/cfg/video.txt config file.

Also, which game modes has this issue been seen with?

I've seen it especially on ZombieEscape servers.

Please retest per "– Fixed gloves not appearing on certain custom maps that skip default equipment." in the 2017-09-26 client update.

I know this isnt really my topic/issue, but this issue still occurs on our servers, but after the testing i've done it seems to only happen when the players have custom player models that arent default in the game. I dont know if it also occurs randomly when players are beign respawned mid-round.

After some more testing with this issue, it doesnt seem to really be the maps that cause this issue. But more the switching playermodels, because as soon as you change the player model the hands go missing. Tought this information might be of use for tracking down the issue.
