It's old but isn't dead to play this game. To go from 60 fps to 12 shooting is a joke.
man my frames are locked at 9 fps wtf i tried alot of things but still nothing
problem is still here, but randomly from a map to another map
the same problem. thanks this help me forget the game
I also have ROG, I used to get 140+ fps on max settings, but the game becomes unplayable after few minutes of gameplay. game starts to freeze(maybe this is fps loss), there is continous variation of about 30ms. I'm on ubuntu, tried changing nvidia version 435,430,390, nothing works.
I fixed my problem, constant 250 fps, no fps drops or input lag. The input weirdness was solved after disabling the mouse acceleration.
I don't if this would help, but I found the solution for my fps drops over here, maybe try it as a last resort: https://www.crispyfixes.com/forum/linux/guide-how-to-fix-fps-drops-in-linux
Same here, its a crazy. Doom Eternal at max quality +100 FPS (100-140) CS:GO starts at +500 FPS then it slows down at -100 FPS. (70-100). RTX 3070 Ti. Tried everything.

Thank You. I am researching about this.. I wonder if the CPU Throttling fix it's safe in someway.
No luck with https://github.com/erpalma/throttled. I guess that in my case it not about throttling; since this only appear to happen in CS:GO.
if you don't mind me asking, what is your setup, like processor and OS?
@AbhijeetSingla its a Intel i7-12700H + RTX3070 Ti. Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS
@ziprasidone146939277 If you have some spare time, could you please boot up a fedora 37 instance and then test csgo, since it uses linux kernel 6, I think it might be driver issue.

I think that it does not worth to install a new OS just to try CS:GO.
In addition; I use Fedora as daily driver for work and; kernel, Mesa and critical componentes versiones are more or less the same as Pop!_OS.

I tried Fedora a few months back, Wayland didn't do well at all, lots of input lags. The frame didn't drop to 15 like other distro though
As noted here, seems this possibly/likely an Nvidia driver bug that will be fixed with 525.
I noticed that the fps directly correlate with a drop in GPU usage in nvtop. Notice that I use gamemode in that setup:

Expectation: to play with the FPS I'm used to, varying between 100-160
Actual: it starts great, FPS stays in 100-160 range, but maybe 20 or so minutes in it starts getting noticeably worse, dropping to 40-60 and deteriorates down to 15-30. When it's got that far I usually either stop playing or restart the game if I'm in a matchmaking game.
