Microphone not working in game. #19

Closed p-m-j closed 9 years ago

p-m-j commented 9 years ago

Picked up by steam voice test but not in lobby or matches.

Have tried pulse and alsa, USB and 3.5mm mics.

Are there any useful details I can post to help?

Vash63 commented 9 years ago

Just curious, have you checked with pavucontrol to make sure the default port settings are correct? If you run it while CS is recording you can probably even switch its input as I'm pretty sure it's using Pulse. It will show up as Left 4 Dead 2 in pavucontrol though like most Valve games whenever they launch on Linux (sure they'll fix that soon).

Edit: Broken for me also. Apparently response I got on a server earlier was just a coincidence.

p-m-j commented 9 years ago

I had not, however CS:GO doesn't show up in recording tab of pavucontrol for me currently even with open mic set.

lucasmr commented 9 years ago

I'm having the same issue. The mic is detected and works fine on Steam, but CS:GO is not picking it, nor is showing up in recording tab of pavucontrol.

Spanguole commented 9 years ago

I am also affected by this bug.

Setting the launch options to LC_ALL=C LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulse %command% makes the voice key show that you a transmitting, but I still hear nothing with voice_loopback 1

Frogging101 commented 9 years ago

I can confirm this issue. Mic works in the overlay, but in-game nobody can hear me and the voice icon on the HUD doesn't show that I'm making noise.

My specs: http://pastebin.com/Ht760Z7W

vividnightmare commented 9 years ago

Same issue here. Mic responds through the overlay in "Mic Setup" and pavucontrol shows that the correct device is used and working. However, in game nobody can hear me. Additionally, it seems as though other players are also not notified that I am attempting to speak (nobody has said they cant hear me).

+1, system info available upon request.

JamesFigler commented 9 years ago

+1, can confirm. Steam voice works great, but there is an issue with CS:GO in game voice.

T3nPoundsOfFlax commented 9 years ago

Confirming MIC not working. Tried ALSA, Pulseaudio on multiple installations (ubuntu or mint). Both work in Steam Settings, and when I "Set Up Mic" in audio settings in CSGO. But on any server, no loopback, volume bars stay static, no one hears me. Works fine in TF2, and other native valve linux games.

This is, for me, the most game-breaking bug. Communication is KEY in CS:GO. Not being able to make calls handicaps me and my team.

Still the case after last nights mini-update. More info upon request, but I have a sneaking suspicion they already know it's not working. I think the codec is the issue, but that is speculation.

edit: System info:

( Using ALSA for sound, no pulseaudio )

Working fine for me after last update. On Sep 25, 2014 8:55 PM, "sidiasus" notifications@github.com wrote:

After setting up my microphone in steam, I ran into the same issue. However, after disabling the steam overlay for CS:GO, people were able to hear me.

I didn't have the visual indicator for sound ingame, just a static speaker icon, but people were able to repeat information back to me.

Note: People using Kubuntu or KDE should install pavucontrol instead of using the built-in audio volume control module because that one can't configure the input device for certain applications.
