Please read all information and gists. I've spent a lot of time trying solutions in various other issues that have been marked as resolved etc. I've seen issues filed for the 3 scenarios listed below separately, but I am experiencing them all together and none of the solutions have worked.
The game was working. I had downloaded it a while back without really playing it. I then let it update 1-2 times and after the last update I was able to play the game for a while (1-2 rounds). I closed the game out and haven't been able to get back into it.
I am able to play original counterstrike fine.
Feel free to get technical with me. I'm a software engineer.

Scenario B:
Expectation:
I open up a terminal within the following folder:
/{USERNAME}/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive
I run the command ./csgo_osx64 . (tried with sudo as well)
The game starts
What Happened: The game did not launch to an interactive UI. A terminal style icon appeared in my dock labeled csgo_osx64 and briefly changed to a CSGO icon before crashing and closing completely.

Please see scenarios outlined above.
Attempted Solutions:
Fresh install of Steam with subsequent fresh* install of CSGO
Uninstalling and reinstalling just CSGO
Uninstalling and reinstalling CSGO after scouring and removing all file references to it
The following items were done before I did a fresh install of Steam and afterwards with no affect.
Deleting all temp or cache sounding files from the game directory
Validating local files
Deleting all VPK files and verifying local files, and the system downloading fresh ones
*Fresh means: Steam app deleted from Applications directory, all library folders deleted, crap cleaner ran on entire system, system wide search for any related files turned up empty.
