tintinmaster commented 3 years ago

Your system information

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Wanted to play new Retake gamemode, but when selecting the card the game freezes and crashes shortly after

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start CS:GO
  2. Search for a match in Retake
  3. Select a Team
  4. Crash
xp2z commented 2 years ago

Also crashed for me on Elementary 6.0, but it got fixed when using nvidia prime On Demand and forcing steam to start with Nvidia GPU.

CorySanin commented 2 years ago

Yay, another retakes mission I can't play!

GenocideStomper commented 2 years ago

Is anyone using the flatpak version and still experiencing this crash?

redigaffi commented 2 years ago

Disabling pre-caching in Steam worked for me on Archlinux + qtile

UPDATE: I got random crashes after some hours of playing.

Joschasa commented 2 years ago

Disabling pre-caching did not work for me.

joewdavies commented 2 years ago

Crashes for me on Linux Mint 19.3 with GTX 1050 Ti

p3net commented 2 years ago

Can confirm. It crashes on the loadout select. Tried it with the latest releases of:

Oreoezi commented 2 years ago

It's still crashing when the cards show up. It's been two years.

WicRus commented 2 years ago

One trick for reduce chance of the crash. Reinstall steam or use custom home path. For example bash -c "export HOME=/mnt/games/home/123;steam" And add old library folder with games.

Still persists, journalctl entry:

Edit: This was on a fresh install, after playing one match of arms race the issue was gone. Edit2: The issue came back when I rebooted. I had to play another game mode (to completion) before playing retakes.

jbgaard commented 2 years ago

This i still a problem for me. Tried fresh installs of all the following distros: Zorin, Manjaro, EndeavourOS & Garuda Linux.

Current specs are: Ryzen 3800X GTX 1070 8G 32GB ram

I have currently only been able to play one round if i first play an arms race match. It seemed hopeful, however the crash was just postponed by about a minute.

telometto commented 2 years ago

I'm experiencing the same issue. I haven't read all the comments but I'm starting to wonder if this is an issue with AMD processors? The few comments I glanced over seemed to have AMD processors.

My hardware:

jtakeshi-nd commented 2 years ago

@telometto I'm on Intel so I don't think that's the issue. I don't have this issue anymore, though.

telometto commented 2 years ago

@jtakeshi-nd Ah. Nevermind, then. Strange issue, though.

atonderski commented 2 years ago

Hi, this happens for me on a m1 pro MacBook as well.

plexx-dev commented 2 years ago

still crashed with my 5.19 kernel

GenocideStomper commented 2 years ago

I forgot about this issue, since I never play the official retake mode. I've since switched to vulkan mode, and played 2 games, with no crashes. Seems to be an OpenGL issue?

~How can I switch to Vulkan?~ EDIT: Nevermind, I found it.

This is still happening for me on a fresh fedora 36 install with Vulkan enabled. Crashes after a couple round of retakes when the card comes up. Not every time the cards come up.

gustafla commented 1 year ago

This still happens on my system too.

g1sbi commented 1 year ago

Still happens, Arch and Nvidia GPU

jtakeshi-nd commented 1 year ago

This has started happening again for me, on Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS, NVIDIA 510 driver. Also, my entire GUI will freeze sometimes during games, necessitating a reboot.

pettyalex commented 1 year ago

Segfault when I select a team on Retake, system info attached: https://gist.github.com/pettyalex/455e9dba6e0f8f13adbde4c45561d924

22.04.2 LTS, 6.1 oem kernel channel, 5600G on integrated graphics:

6.1.0-1009-oem #9-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Mar 31 09:59:10 UTC 2023 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I get a crash the instant that I try to select a team on Retake. A segfault shows up in kernel logs from that.

MrLe0 commented 1 year ago

full game crash after choosing a team, as soon as or just before the card pop up running endeavour os (arch version 6.3.3 and any previous versions i've tested with) with nvidia drivers (530.41.03 and a previous version too) with a gtx 1070 ti, i7-12700, 32GB DDR4, I tried with vulkan and opengl and the only times i managed to play until the end of the game was with vulkan, playing CT side and joining mid game, don't know why, but it seemed to matter. maybe some cards are bugged and not others

fritzcloud commented 1 year ago

I have installed a fresh fedora linux, I have a different cpu/gpu now and it is still happening. My friends and me are usually warming up on retakes, so not being able to play it is very annoying. Shader pre-caching on/off doesn't matter, opengl/vulkan doesn't matter, distro doesn't matter and according to this thread hardware doesn't matter. dmesg:

I would really appreciate if somebody from valve could take a look at this. The game runs so well otherwise. Edit: Or we just hope CS:2 will magically fix it :D Edit2: Tried rpm and flatpak packages of steam, no change.

JesseBusman commented 1 year ago

Retakes also crashes on Steam Deck when the cards show.

rvalimaki commented 1 year ago

Something changed overnight as this bug is now affecting me as well. Back in the day that happened kind of randomly once or twice a day, but as of today, it happens all the time and I cannot play Retakes at all. Yesterday I had zero problems. I am not aware of any system updates since yesterday. I am using Arch Linux with latest updates. Ryzen 5950x + nVidia RTX 3060.

Did you change any settings or any configuration on CS or your system since it worked?
