No microphone on pulseaudio-less system #2666

Hello. I'm using 64 bit Gentoo GNU/Linux built without pulseaudio. No matter how I try, I cannot make the microphone work, the game does not even show that I'm speaking. I've tried all workarounds I could find on internet, including modifying mic device in "Friends and Chat", using apulse, tweaking .alsoftrc and setting SDL_AUDIODRIVER env var, all to no avail. Here's my system information.

Same issue here, working without pulseaudio as well on Devuan. Definitely it's not a distribution problem.

Sharing system info as well.
