CSGO Randomly Crashes #3230

Your system information

https://gist.github.com/KreshnikuGreen/7179b1e2c7833a768cc0cbcb977fe03f I am running fedora 36 Yes I have checked for system updates

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I turn on CSGO and when I enter matches casual or competitive it will crash. To fix this I uninstalled steam and reinstalled it via Flatpak. It fixed the issue until I entered a competitive match which has completely broken the game as it will crash even on menu.

I have disabled Steam Overlay, in fact it was already disabled for me and it has done nothing

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Open Steam
  2. Turn CSGO on
  3. Wait on menu for a bit it will crash
  4. If I join match it will crash after a few minutes/seconds

Did more testing today and when it crashed KDE gave me this image

More news, deleting csgo_linux64 and csgo.sh fixed the problem...somehow

Nah it happens again, now if I press Shift + Tab it breaks which is new, it didn't do this before

After more testing and tries it seems related to Steam Overlay, even if disabled if I get notifications that someone is starting to play a game or that I got a new inventory item the game will automatically crash. It also seems that maybe it crashes by itself without the steam notifications but I will need to play it more to make sure

Based on your findings, seems related to your window manager. Are you playing in fullscreen? If not, try adding -fullscreen to your launch options and make sure it's also set in your config settings, then test and see if you have the same issue.

I am playing on fullscreen, I always play on fullscreen, it has funnily enough switched from a window manager problem to the same problem 2-3 other issues had with the steam overlay...I do not even get how one problem fixes itself and now becomes the other, it is so weird

I disabled the Steam Overlay because of this crap. Every time I received a message it was like a remote trigger to crash my game, as I instinctively pressed shift+tab to check.
